Nicolaus Copernicus first came to the Lidzbark court of his uncle, Bishop Łukasz Watzenrode, at the turn of 1495 and 1496. After arriving permanently in Warmia in 1503, he lived in the Lidzbark castle until 1510, acting as the bishop's personal secretary and physician.
