The core of the church dates back to the second half of the 13th century. It is a fieldstone church with a nave and a recessed rectangular chancel to the east. During a comprehensive renovation in 1860, the western square brick tower and the gables with their stepped gables were added. The chancel also received a rose window. In 2003, the severely endangered structure was secured.
The neo-Gothic interior furnishings also date from 1860. These include an organ built in 1823 by Johann Simon Buchholz for the village church of Seelübbe and donated to the Weselitz parish in 1902.
