Cedar Canyon Road offers one of the region’s classic climbs: a steady 17-mile ascent with more than 4,000 feet of gain as you leave Cedar City and rise into a deep red-rock canyon. The grade stays mostly consistent around 4–5%, with a few steeper miles, making it a long but predictable effort. As you climb, the desert walls give way to aspen and fir forests near 10,000 feet. Expect cooler temperatures and fast-changing weather at altitude, and bring layers even on warm days.
