Trulli of Alberobello

The trulli of Alberobello were registered in 1996 by UNESCO in the World Heritage List as a notable example of spontaneous architecture inserted in an urban and landscape context of great historical value. According to some studies, the trulli were born in the fourteenth century.
Their particular structure with dark slabs, in contrast with the white of the base, gives the visitor a unique, almost fairytale-like scenario.

What at first glance looks like the work of an eccentric artist or the home of a dwarf people is actually a human settlement. The unusual dwellings are made of limestone slabs and were built without mortar.
