The Clayoquot Sound UNESCO Biosphere Region (CSBR) is one of three biosphere regions in British Columbia, covering nearly 350,000 hectares on the west coast of Vancouver Island, recognized for its ancient temperate rainforests, rugged coastline, and rich biodiversity. The area protects a mix of ecosystems from lush forested slopes and mountain valleys to remote inlets, islands and tidal flats, supporting an impressive variety of wildlife and plant species. The reserve also carries deep cultural significance, as the traditional territory of local Indigenous peoples, and today remains a place that combines conservation, sustainable resource use, and respect for heritage.
