Tips

  • The castle was built in the 10th century and is one of the oldest castles in Saxony. In the 18th and 19th centuries, the castle was used as a district court, prison and officials' apartments. In 1890, it was converted into a museum.

  • In the former post office, in parts of the gatehouse of the castle Mildenstein, the boot museum was established. It is one of the world's largest sheepskin boots, reminiscent of the long tradition of Schumacher crafts in Leisnig. A small museum by the local painter Karl Wagler can also be visited there.
