Frankenstein Castle Ruins – Darmstadt's Local Mountain 🚴‍♂️

Darmstadt's local mountain, with Frankenstein Castle. 
The famous Frankenstein Castle stands on a 370 m high spur of the Langenberg and is located southeast of the Darmstadt district of Darmstadt Eberstadt, within the municipality of Mühltal. It is the northernmost of a series of castles and castle ruins on the western edge of the Odenwald and overlooks the Rhine plain. The castle was built around 1250. It was extensively expanded around 1400. From the 17th century onwards, it was listed as derelict. Of the castle ruins, only the rampart, the Zwinger, parts of the shield wall, a battlement leading to the tower house, the remains of the palace, as well as the castle gate and gate tower remain. Necessary restoration work began in the second half of the 19th century. Its history is closely intertwined with legend and poetry, making it a popular attraction for visitors from all over the world. 🚴‍♂️

For cyclists who want to climb the local mountain by road, there are two options to choose from.

    - Eberstadt ascent 🚴‍♂️
    - Mühltal ascent 🚴‍♂️

If only half a ruin is still a restaurant, a kiosk and a chapel which is often used for weddings

No idea how many times I've been up here, at least it was never the same track.
Varied Hausbergsrunde, if you can with a delicious non-alcoholic wheat at the kiosk.
