The Grotto of the Virgen del Carmen in Rincón de la Victoria is a small sanctuary closely linked to the maritime tradition. The history of this grotto dates back to 1919, when Joaquín Rubio Moreno, together with Enrique Stepane Moreno, organized the first procession in honor of the Virgen del Carmen. This Virgin is considered the patron saint of fishermen and sailors and is especially venerated every year on July 16th. After Joaquín Rubio's death in 1938, his family remained true to this tradition and continued the veneration of the saint. In the 1990s, the idea finally arose to create a permanent memorial on the coast of Rincón de la Victoria.

The current grotto, with its tiled altar, was inaugurated in 2019 – on the 25th anniversary of the local Brotherhood of the Virgen del Carmen – in cooperation with the Rincón de la Victoria town council. It commemorates the founders of the procession and the city's decades-long connection to the sea.

Today, the grotto is a popular stop on the Paseo Marítimo, for both pedestrians and cyclists who pause to enjoy the sea view and the place of quiet contemplation. It impressively combines faith, history, and maritime tradition, and symbolizes the deep maritime character of Rincón de la Victoria.
