The Buffalo Skull Loop Trail is located about 3.5 miles southwest of Osceola, Wisconsin, in the Standing Cedars Community Land Conservancy. The area covers 245 acres and features a network of looped, easy-to-intermediate foot trails, with parking at 2849 55th Ave. Hikers enjoy diverse landscapes, including cliffs, oak savanna, ravines, forests, and a prairie full of native plants, including the rare Besseya bullii. A side trail leads to the overlook above scenic Buttermilk Falls. The trails are open year-round for hiking and in winter for snowshoeing. There is no fee, but dogs must be leashed from April 15 to July 31, and biking, horses, other vehicles, and camping are not allowed. For safety, visitors should avoid hiking during deer gun season and wear orange in the fall.
