The Leuntea-Vin winery was founded in 1817 by General François-Michel de Poncet and is the oldest winery in Moldova. If you visit it and perhaps hike from there to Purcari, be sure to ask the owner for a tour. Even if you don't understand Russian, the owner, Dmitrii Kyssa, tells his stories so vividly that you shouldn't miss it. The wine tasting is also highly recommended, as you'll enjoy a wonderful red wine.
