The Muzza Canal is one of the most important and oldest hydraulic engineering works in Europe. It is a large artificial branch of the Adda River that originates near the castle of Cassano d'Adda and crosses the entire Lodi plain. After a course of about 39-40 kilometers (about 60 km considering the entire network of collectors), it returns to its original riverbed, rejoining the Adda near Castiglione d'Adda.
