the Wapiti River stretches nearly 390 kilometres from the Rocky Mountains to its meeting point with the Smoky River northeast of Grande Prairie. Although you can’t see it from the trail, this section runs close enough that you can hear the steady rush of the river through the trees as you hike. The sound is a peaceful companion on the Magoo trails, a reminder of the powerful waterway that shapes the forested valleys and foothills of the region.
