Waterton Lakes National Park, in southwest Alberta, is where the prairies meet the Rocky Mountains in a dramatic landscape of cliffs, lakes, and rolling grasslands. The park is known for its deep blue lakes, colourful sedimentary rock, and rich wildlife, including bears, bighorn sheep, and elk. Trails range from short lakefront walks to steep alpine climbs, offering hikers a mix of prairie views and high-mountain scenery. As part of the Waterton–Glacier International Peace Park, it’s recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and Biosphere Reserve, celebrating both its natural beauty and ecological importance.
