The Hector Lake Trail in Banff National Park is a moderate hike that leads to one of the park’s lesser-visited alpine lakes. The trail starts off the Icefields Parkway and winds through dense forest before reaching the Bow River crossing, which can be knee-deep depending on the season. Beyond the river, the path opens to a meadow and the turquoise waters of Hector Lake framed by surrounding peaks. It’s a quieter alternative to some of Banff’s busier trails, offering a true backcountry feel just off the main highway.
