Once a railway line, the Confederation Trail now forms the island’s longest off-road hiking route, stretching nearly 450 km from Tignish to Elmira.

Its flat, crushed-stone path makes for an easy, steady walk through PEI’s countryside, past red-soil farmland, quiet forests, and small local communities. Along the way, you’ll spot wildflowers in summer, bright foliage in autumn, and plenty of wildlife. With benches, picnic areas, and village stops scattered throughout, it’s a peaceful and well-maintained trail perfect for long-distance hikers or relaxed day walks.
