The "immovable" sword driven into the ground by Okomfo Anokye still exists and houses the Okomfo Anokye Teaching Hospital. According to tradition, the sword was driven into the ground almost 300 years ago. It is believed that the Okomfo declared that no one could remove the sword, and so it remained there despite all attempts. It is believed that the Ashanti State would collapse if the sword were ever removed from the ground.
