"The story of Santa Claus in Himmelpfort dates back to 1984. At that time, two children from Berlin and Saxony wrote to Santa Claus in Himmelpfort. A postal worker didn't want to return the letters marked "Recipient Unknown." So she answered the letters herself. The two children apparently told their friends about the reply. Because by the following season, 75 letters had already arrived for Santa Claus.From 1990 onwards, more and more Christmas letters began arriving in Himmelpfort, with up to 2,000 letters a day during Advent.
