It is considered probable that three desert-fleeing soldiers from Rheinfelden were executed here by SS soldiers shortly before the end of the Second World War. A table set up only in 2010 explains what happened and the existing cross inscription from the 1960s, which speaks of the "heroic death" of men. Historians say that the text should be left as it reflects the spirit of the post-war period, when the people readily believed that the soldiers were killed in the fight against Frenchmen.
