Until 1073 there was a castle on the Käpfle, from which the name “Alteburg” of the estate and the restaurant to the north of the Käpfles goes back. From the castle itself, however, there are not even remnants of walls left. Since 1974 there has been a twelve-meter-high wooden observation tower on the Käpfle, which is open all year round. You have a wonderful view of Reutlingen and the Swabian Alb including Hohenzollern Castle.

From the observation tower on the Käpfle (Old Castle) near Reutlingen-Bronnweiler, which was built in 1974 and has been newly renovated since 2019, you have a beautiful view of the northern edge of the Middle Swabian Alb, the Alb foothills and across the Neckar valley to the Schönbuch.
