The Venetian fortress of Naoussa is located in the old harbor and is the most characteristic feature of this beautiful settlement.
Built by the Venetians in the 15th century, the fortress served as a watchtower against pirate and enemy attacks, as well as a front line in times of war. Its location was ideal for monitoring the Aegean Sea, and its architecture made it very difficult for enemy ships to approach the harbor, where merchant ships used to dock.
