The monument commemorating the famous MacCrimmons pipe dynasty stands in Borreraig, Skye, overlooking Loch Dunvegan and opposite Dunvegan Castle. The MacCrimmons were hereditary pipers to the Chiefs of Clan MacLeod of Dunvegan and composed many classical pieces in their honor. They also founded a renowned pipe school in Borreraig. The 17th century was the height of their fame; their last pupil, a MacArthur, graduated in the 1780s. There's no clear path to this attraction. If you go downhill towards the loch along Borreraig Road, you'll find yourself on the grass in front of the second-to-last house on the left. Then, between two iron fences, you'll have to climb uphill and finally climb over the fence using a small step. This provides easy access to the carn.
