Holly Shelter Game Land spans over 75,000 acres of coastal plain habitat, with longleaf pine savannas, pocosin wetlands, and blackwater creeks. It’s open to hikers, hunters, and wildlife watchers, though trails are mostly unmarked and best suited for experienced navigators. The Mountains-to-Sea Trail runs right through it, leading to some of the most isolated and ecologically rich land in the coastal plain.
