Alta is a young city. It was only formed in 2000 through the merger of three municipalities and is the northernmost city with over 10,000 inhabitants. Margedsgata is a pedestrian-only street in the center of Alta. It leads from the Northern Lights Cathedral past many shops and restaurants. A lovely place for a night out.
