The hut stands on a meadow next to the church of St. Areha east of Žigart's peak. It is the oldest mountain hut in the region of Pohorje, built on 8 September 1907 by the Podravska branch of the SPD from Ruš. Two huts were built next to it: in 1912 Planinko and in 1922 Čandrova cottage. On the night of November 11th to November 12th, 1943, all three camps burned the Partisans, so that the enemy would not have shelters in them. On October 20, 1946 PD Ruše opened a new Ruško cottage built on the foundations of the burned Planinka. In the vicinity of the hut, a pioneer mountain hut was opened on July 31, 1955, which was already rearranged in 1958 for common berths. In 1957, electricity was introduced from the valley. The cottage was completely renovated in 1977 and arranged central heating. Due to an increasing number of visits to the old foundations, a new Čandrova cottage was built, which was opened in September 1987.
