"According to legend, Irrhausen derives its name from the misconception of Charlemagne, but it is more likely that the original name of the Irsenbach was responsible for this, as it was called" Uruersem "at the time of the Carolingians 760 was made.

Already Celts and Romans left their mark at the confluence of Irsen and Mannerbach. The village was probably founded between the 9th and 11th centuries. At the beginning of the Middle Ages they were Luxembourgish, from 1555 habsburg - Spanish, belonged from 1700 to the Austrian - Spanish Netherlands, where they remained until 1793.

The French Revolution gave the citizens of Irrhausen their French citizenship, which they had to exchange for the Prussian army in 1815, to become Rhineland - Palatinate federal republicans in 1949.
