The plant is located east of Darmstadt on the municipal boundary to Roßdorf north of the B26 and at the southern end of the Scheftheimer meadows on the edge of the shepherd meadow.

In the year 1966/1967 at the parish boundary to Roßdorf 14 larger stones from granite porphyry were discovered. Her discoverer, the Roßdorf local historian Heinrich Gunkel, identified her as a prehistoric stone circle dating from the Neolithic period (mid-6th to late 3rd millennium BC).

In 1993, the nature reserve "Scheftheimer meadows" was identified, in which the plant is located. An entry was since then only possible with special permission, the access was not expelled. Since February 2011, when the bridge over the Ruthsenbach and a new access to the menhirs was created, the stone circle can be entered again without permission. The plant is free of scrub and equipped with a display board.

The plant is unique in Hesse. In the vicinity are settlement remains of the Neolithic Rössen culture and the Iron Age. Source: Wikipedia
Is very nice in nature, the bank invites you to take a break. Attention in the summer there are some mosquitoes in the Scheftheimer meadows ;-)
