Carl Wilhelm Friedrich von Brandenburg-Ansbach built the castle in 1735 in its current form. After changing hands several times, the castle was sold in 1807 to the Castell bailiff and manorial judge Friedrich Eyßelein. Today, Schloss Fürstenforst is privately owned.
