The palace was built in 1884 for Theodor Caesar. Designed by the renowned Berlin architect Otto March, who gave the building a unique style combining English Neo-Gothic with Neo-Renaissance elements, known as the Queen Anne style.

Currently, the palace is in private hands. It has undergone extensive renovations over the years, and its owner planned to turn it into a conference center. The palace and park are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
