Bike Touring Highlight
In 1905 the first Esterliturm was built of wood and inaugurated in 1906.The Esterliturm in its current form was built in 1974 by the local community. The tower is 48 m high and is composed of 19 concrete pipe elements. A staircase with a total of 253 steps leads to the observation deck 45 m above the ground. The platform is at an altitude of 602 meters above sea level. The viewing platform offers visitors a unique panoramic view of the canton of Aargau. If visibility is good, you can see southern Germany with the Black Forest in the north and central Switzerland with the impressive Alps in the south. The Ersteliturm can be easily reached on foot from Lenzburg in around 60 minutes. There are beautiful and well-equipped barbecue areas right by the Esterli Tower. An ideal destination for family trips, club walks or just a weekend walk. The name "Esterliturm"
On the western side of the Esterliturm you will find the name "Esterli" on the national map. This used to be the cattle passage in the grazed forest between Lenzburg and Egliswil. The first Esterliturm stood there and was barely larger than today's hunting lodge. Hence the name Esterliturm comes from this field name.
