The first wooden Esterli tower was built in 1905 and inaugurated in 1906.

The Esterli Tower in its current form was built in 1974 by the local community. The tower is 48 m high and is made up of 19 concrete tube elements. A staircase with a total of 253 steps leads to the viewing platform 45 m above the ground. The platform is at an altitude of 602 m above sea level.

The viewing platform offers visitors a unique panoramic view of the canton of Aargau. When visibility is good, you can see southern Germany with the Black Forest in the north and Central Switzerland with the impressive Alps in the south.

The Ersterliturm can be easily reached on foot from Lenzburg in around 60 minutes. There are beautiful and well-equipped barbecue areas right next to the Esterliturm. An ideal destination for family outings, club hikes or just a weekend walk.

The name "Esterli Tower"
On the western side of the Esterli Tower you will find the name "Esterli" on the national map. This used to be the cattle passage in the grazed forest between Lenzburg and Egliswil. The first Esterli tower stood there and was hardly larger than today's hide for hunters. Hence the name Esterliturm as a derivation from this field name.
