The trail starts at the hiking car park at the Pfronten-Kappel forest ropes course. First, you'll hike through the magnificent Höllschlucht Gorge on narrow, rooty, and sometimes slippery paths. If you're lucky, you might encounter alpine salamanders. Continue across a meadow, which becomes extremely muddy when it rains, to the Kappeler Alpe. From there, you can either hike up to the Böck sports center on the Edelsberg, or, like me, to the Hündleskopfhütte. The first vegetarian or "began" hut in the Alps offers fantastic culinary delights and a beautiful view of the valley. From here, you can hike either along the forest road or a narrow, steep path through the forest back to the starting point.
