The name Haus Demmin refers to the ruins of a Pomeranian princely castle (moated castle) and a manor house south-east of the Hanseatic city of Demmin on an island at the confluence of the Tollense and the Peene. The ruined castle is the oldest preserved secular building in Pomerania and is considered the "cradle" of this region.
