The village of Yazvishche with the Church of the Life-Giving Trinity located in it (since 1815) is one of the most ancient places in the Volokolamsk region. The village is located on the Gryada River, 3 km from the source of the Lama River and 20 km from Volokolamsk.

The village is famous for the fact that Saint Reverend Joseph of Volotsk, the founder of the Joseph-Volokolamsk Monastery, was born there in 1440.
