The Rugisbalm cable car is a "Buirebähnli", a farmer's track. Such small cable cars were built in the 1930s and 1940s, so that the farmers came quickly and easily up to the high meadows. The Rugisbalm cable car is still in use today, and hikers can float with it up to the mountains.
A typical Buirebähnli peculiarity: the train stands at its cable car station until a hiker gets in. The calls then with the firmly attached phone to the cable car guide and the trip starts. And that's a bit exciting. Since the web is hung with two straps firmly on the rope, the gondola follows the slope of the rope - just in the lower part of the gondola inclines duly towards the valley.
