Interesting exhibition on coal mining in Saxony, especially in the Lugau-Oelsnitz and Zwickau districts.
The entrance into the shaft and a guided tour through the "underground area" (+2 €) is highly recommended. There, the everyday life of miners and the particular dangers in hard coal mining are clearly explained.
The museum also houses the largest steam engine in Saxony, the function of which is demonstrated several times a day in demonstrations.

After the 4th Saxon State Exhibition on December 31, 2020, the mining museum will unfortunately be closed for the time being. After completion of the renovation work, the reopening should take place in 2023.
