The Sülze Saltworks Association's exhibition in Altensalzkoth combines information with a meeting place. In an open wooden hut with benches, visitors learn fascinating facts about the village's 300-year history, which is closely linked to salt production. The panels describe the complex system of wooden pipes that carried the brine like a pipeline from the surrounding moors, the saltworks where the valuable salt was extracted through evaporation, and the peat that, as an important fuel, made salt production possible in the first place. This highlights how closely nature, technology, and hard work were intertwined in everyday life at that time.
