The alpine lake is nestled just below Crystal Peak. You can find some relics of the mining era at the southwest shore as well as a very narrow entrance into an old mine shaft (which is flooded). There are plenty of pikas around and you might even spot ptarmigans. Compared to Lower Crystal Lake, there is just very few (if any) fish in the lake.
