The region of Mińsk Mazowiecki has witnessed many dramatic events in the history of our country. One of them was the January Uprising, which is a souvenir of many graves scattered throughout the Halinów commune. One of such places is located in the village of Długa Kościelna, in which there is a monument commemorating the insurgents.

According to the local tradition, this is a grave containing the remains of soldiers who died during the fighting that took place in 1863. The January Uprising was a guerrilla war. Abounded in the numerous skirmishes of the insurgents hiding in the forests with tsarist troops often having a significant numerical advantage. The insurgents commemorated in Długa Kościelna may have belonged to the branch of Józef Jankowski, pseud. "Szydłowski" who became famous in numerous battles in Masovia, Podlasie and the Lublin region. He commanded, among others, Michałów and Okuniew. Perhaps, however, they were soldiers of Piotr Wysocki himself, who also took part in the battle of Okuniew.

The monument erected in honor of the fallen heroes was funded by the local population almost 100 years after the January Uprising, in 1960. It was built from red sandstone and given a high, square shape in the obelisk. The monument is placed on a pedestal, consisting of 4 steps. On its top there is a white eagle with wings spread. An inscription was inscribed on the surface of the sandstone: "Śp. RISE FROM 1863. THE CHURCH LONG, MAY 1960 ". This place is still alive in the memory of the local population, which until today places its flowers at the foot and lights the candles.
