Eldey is a small volcanic island, 77 meters high, with spectacular cliffs. Although it cannot be visited, it stands out as a natural and ornithological monument in the middle of the Atlantic.

It was the last known home of the great auk, a now-extinct flightless bird that was exterminated in the 19th century. Today, Eldey is a sanctuary for more than 16,000 pairs of gannets, one of the largest colonies in the world.
