Slightly east of Brigels lies the small viewpoint Crest la Crusch / Escherstein. In a fenced garden stands a large granite block with an iron cross.
The monument commemorates the construction of the first passable connecting road into the valley. It was erected out of gratitude for three men – Escher, Bavier, and Latour – who had particularly championed the road's construction. On the approximately 7.5 km long section of the panoramic road from Waltensburg to Brigels, more than 50 workers were employed at the time.
