The kiosk is not always open. In winter, from November to March, it is only open on Saturdays and Sundays. From April to October, it is also open on Thursdays and Fridays.

Unfortunately the tower was closed today because of Corona.
But I know from previous visits that the panoramic view over the tree tops at a height of 540 m (the Kernerturm stands at 513 m above sea level, it itself is 27 m high) is impressive.

You can upload to the tower and there is a kiosk. The kiosk offers drinks and something to eat at fair prices

The last part on the south-east side goes up "Kernig", the final north-west ascent should be reserved for hikers. For fans, the kiosk offers original Thuringian rosters, which is why it's worth climbing up.
