The kiosk is not always open. In winter, from November to March, it is only open on Saturdays and Sundays. From April to October, it is also open on Thursdays and Fridays.

Unfortunately, the tower was closed today due to Corona.
But I know from previous visits that the panoramic view over the treetops at 540 m height (the Kernerturm is 513 m above sea level, it is 27 m high itself) is impressive.

You can upload to the tower and there is a kiosk. The kiosk offers drinks and something to eat at fair prices

The last part on the south-east side goes up "Kernig", the final north-west ascent should be reserved for hikers. For fans, the kiosk offers original Thuringian rosters, which is why it's worth climbing up.
