The column on the northern shore of Lake Plansee (in the same district of the municipality Breitenwang) with the Bavarian lion is dedicated to King Maximilian II of Bavaria, who in 1852 the Planseestraße in the traffic. The memorial was erected twenty years later, as the dedication inscription states: "The King of Bavaria Maximilian II, the builder of these roads the grateful communities Reutte, Breitenwang, Ehenbichl and Plach MDCCCLXXII."

The monument to the Bavarian King Maximilian II was erected in 1872 to commemorate the construction of the road along the Plansee (1850/51) that he had commissioned. An obelisk-like pillar stands on a base with an inscription, which is crowned by the Bavarian lion with coat of arms.
