A jewel in Wethen is the former tithe house from 1774, which is popularly known as the “town hall”. It was built on the foundation walls of the 11th century castle and used as a tithe house and administrative seat for the officials of the Waldecker counts. As early as April 1843, the local clan books report, an application was made for the count to be replaced by the payment of tithes. The building soon lost its function as the headquarters for the regents' tax collectors.
