Starting from Friden Bends to the west, the bridleway takes you through several meadows along some rocky singletrack.
This gets more and more rocky (watch out for large rocks hidden under tufts of grass) until you reach the point where the bridleway splits up the hill towards Middleton.
Continuing along it becomes rolling meadows with fast singletrack all the way down to where the trail splits again to Gratton dale. Gratton dale is a slow slog as although flat, it's extremely bumpy with sharp rocks.
