The domed interior is decorated with 18th-century azulejos from the Convento das Trinas in Lisbon, depicting scenes from the life of St. Gregory.
Worth a visit, but unfortunately not always open.

According to a plaque on site, the original fountain dates back to 1841. It is fed by water from the São Gregório spring, one of the seven springs that originally provided the city with its public water supply.
