Regenstein Castle Ruins

The open-air museum on Regenstein, about 3 km from Blankenburg, is a major attraction in the Harz region, thanks to its location on a rugged rock at an altitude of almost 300 meters.
The numerous rooms carved into the rock are striking, some of which house small exhibitions. Remarkable historical finds from the castle and fortress can be admired. The open-air museum also includes the partially well-preserved ramparts and walls of the former Prussian fortress of Regenstein, which became a popular excursion destination shortly after its destruction in the 18th century. Several viewpoints complete the offerings.
