This section of the Maah Daah Hey Trail descends into a short, sculpted gully of stunning blue-gray bentonite clay, where the terrain narrows. If you're hiking in damp conditions, be careful with your footing, as the trail can be slippery. The path weaves directly through the eroded clay walls, with steep sides rising closely on either side and a delicate surface that glimmers under the sunlight. This quiet stretch has an otherworldly feel—while it may be less dramatic than Utah’s iconic hills, it unmistakably showcases the unique texture and tone of the Badlands.
