The first written evidence of the existence of Baskaki dates back to the second half of the 17th century. In 1677, a church in the name of the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos was built here at the expense of the landowner Andrei Arsenyev. In 1726, this church burned down and in its place, at the expense of "Prince Andrei, Prince Ivan's son Gundorov", a wooden church was built and consecrated in honor of the same sacred event.
