The theater project, currently under construction, fully reflects Pietro Consagra's (1920-2005) concept of a frontal city, already realized in Gibellina in the Meeting and the Stella. As a sculptor, Consagra conceived a building with curved, continuous planes, without right angles, favoring the plastic image and aesthetic communication. The theater's construction has profound cultural significance, as it serves as a venue for the representation of collective myths that are currently being staged in the ruins of Gibellina.

Without right angles, a single fluid, soft movement, which in Pietro Consagra's intentions should have become a work of Frontal Architecture, a theater open to the territory, a living and inhabitable sculpture, with curved and continuous planes, which communicated compactness. Consagra started the construction of the Gibellina Theater in 1989, more than twenty years after the earthquake that destroyed the Belìce, but the project was never completed and the structure remained unfinished, enormous, becoming a solitary symbol, impossible to forget. A series of close-up photos have been installed under the arches of the theatre.
