Two highlights immediately after the start of the tour in Traben-Trarbach: first the warrior memorial and immediately afterwards the Grevenburg. From both places you have great views over the Moselle, Traben and Trarbach. If you are lucky, you will find a seat next to the Burgschänke directly on the slope to the Moselle and thus sit directly on the "balcony".

The Grevenburg is the ruin of a hilltop castle above the district Trarbach and was built in 1350 by the Count of Sponheim and 1734 - after its conquest by the French - blown up.
Today there is a castle tavern with outdoor catering.

Built around 1350 by Count Johann III, a son of the legendary Countess Loretta, it was the ancestral seat of the Counts of Sponheim until 1437. During the turmoil of war in the 17th and 18th centuries, the castle changed hands thirteen times. In 1734 it was conquered and destroyed by the French. The castle ruins offer a magnificent view of the Moselle.
