The Thuringian Gate is the name given to the breakthrough of the Unstrut near Sachsenburg in Thuringia. With a great view of the pretty railway viaduct.

The breakthrough of the Unstrut near Sachsenburg in Thuringia is called the Thuringian Gate.
Here the river breaks through the Hainleite and Schmücke mountain ranges, which close off the Thuringian Basin to the north.
The topographical conditions created by the Unstrut have always been used by traffic. The federal highway 85, the federal highway 86 and the railway line Sangerhausen-Erfurt lead through the Thuringian gate. In the Middle Ages, the Thuringian Gate was guarded by the Upper Sachsenburg and the Lower Sachsenburg (Wikipedia).
The Unstrut cycle path leads right through here.

Beautiful section of the Unstrut cycle path. Very flat, well developed.
